Secma Qpod Club

Qpod Club - be a part of the fun!

Hi All

This insurance lark is now getting to me.

No accidents

No points

No Claims

Kept garraged.

1500 miles /year.

Average Quote £800

Best quote £335 (Lexham and Footman James)

Adrian Flux: £1200

How come you all (say) under £200 ?

What am I doing wrong ?

oh - and 3 years NCB

Its probably and age and possibly area thing Alex.  Just had my renewal in from Footman James at £115, other details same as yours, but my age =54.  I think Steve's was about the same as yours and he lives about a mile from me.  It is a bit of a mystery!

Hope you are both well

Chris

You live south of Watford lovely x

Hi Alex

Mine's 115 quid as well mate through Footman James as recommended by Chris M and was also quoted 150 quid through Adrian Flux who I was with the previous 2 years.  Suggest you ring Footman James and tell them that we are both insured for 115 quid and see what they come up with. Shouldn't be that much difference must be something wrong.

Cheers, Chris.

Hi Alex

Just wondered if you are asking for Fully Comprehensive Insurance at the prices quoted?  I opt for 3rd Party Fire and Theft with Chaucer Insurance and pay about £75.00 per year.  With Qpods of mine's age(2005) worth about £1500 would be willing to take the hit and get nothing if, God forbid, I have an accident which is my fault.  Mind you if I burn out any more Regulators won't be able to afford any insurance!!

regards

Martyn

Have you had any luck Alex?

I have bought a Qpod the same as yours today, and I am looking for insurance at the moment. MCE gave me a quote for £632.34. I couldnt get insurance by Adrian Fluxx, Chaucer, Lexham or Falcon as I am 18 and they won't insure me (Which is ludicrous as I'm already insured on a 1.2 car)... Are there any other insurers that I have missed? I will ring Footman james tomorrow but can't do it today as the retards close at 5.. which is stupid. On the brightside, at least I own a Qpod now! :)

It's definitely something to do with area Alex as, when we moved house last year, our premium went up by £30 to £141.75 with Footman James.  We only moved 1 mile away too!  I don't think age has anything to do with it though, as we have the son (30) and son-in-law (27) also on the policy, at no extra cost.

Doesn't seem fair does it?

Dave & Trish

PS - back on the road now, following Pete's expert help with a successful engine transplant last Friday!  :-)

About time you got one Alex - Happy Podding....

Hi Dave & Trish,

thanks for the comments. It doesn't make sence to me, as I live in Herefordshire which is a very small city with a just as low crime rate, I have limited the mileage to 1500, but £600 seems seriously high for a weekend toy... I have been driving for over a year and have never had an accident or anything. I am considering asking my mother to take out the policy and putting me as a named driver, just to try and get it cheaper.. As frankly at £600 I can't afford to own one.

I know chris! I have been looking for soo long. I have bought my Qpod off Amanda Lee who is a qpod member, She bought it but really didn't like it so bought herself a bigger off road buggy (for her and her young daughter). So happy to finally be able to call one mine, but insurance is seriously giving me a head ache! haha
