Secma Qpod Club

Qpod Club - be a part of the fun!

My Qpod was in the Lake District Floods. The water covered most of the engine. I have dried out most of the electrics and all the lights work. The ignition works and turns over the engine.
It started for a few seconds . The exhaust was quite thick and a grey brown gunge came out of the air filter. Looks like water in the oil. I think it needs a good overhaul. I have brought it back to Oldham because no one in Cumbria will look at Qpods. Any body know of my nearest dealer which would look at it.

I am no expert but suggest you do not turn the engine over again. Seek advice but probably worth cleaning out air intake full strip down. change engine oil and filter, remove plugs, pull fuse on petrol pump if its an electric pump. Turn engine over with plugs removed. Reassemble, run, if ok, change oil again. A friend did this with a flooded Saab! The Saab survived. Best of luck.
Thanks Roger but I am a bit unsure of doing a complete strip down on my own. I have tried Googling Qpod Dealers Qpod agents. But all the results are in Scotland or Cunninghams. These are too far for me. I was looking for someone in Yorkshire or possibly North Wales
If it is a Lombardini Engine? Looks like there is a place in Manchester that deals with reconditioning Lombardini's

Hi,

I doubt that lombardini would do any work on the vehicle. They just really work on engines on benches and not vehicles. They also tend to do more work on industrial diesel engines and I found that the Lombardini dealer in Leeds would not have even looked at my vehicle if they had known it was a petrol engine in the first place.

There are not many Qpod dealers but this doesn't mean that nobody else will look at the vehicle. I go to Malcolm Taylors in Halifax who are just a normal car garage. They have worked on my Qpod Funtech and my QT500 in the past and have done an excellent job.

If I was you, I would ring around a few local garages and see who is prepared to look at the vehicle. Make sure that you are 100% upfront about the vehicle beforehand so that they don't change their minds when you go to the hassle of taking the Qpod to them.

Thanks If they wont do it in Manchester I can always take it to your garage in Halifax.
I really apreciate everyones feed back.
