Qpod Club - be a part of the fun!

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with their Funtech 50 filling up the engine
crankcase with two stroke oil after the vehicle has been sitting for more than a week or so.
If I start it every second day, I don't have the problem. But after a week, when I go to start it
the excess oil in the engine fouls the spark plug and it won't start. When I remove the plug and crank the engine over, quite a lot of oil is ejected from the cylinder, not enough to hydraulic lock the piston but then I havn't left it for a long time to see if it will fill the cylinder completely. I am guessing there is some sort of oil distribution pump in the engine that may have a by-pass problem, but so far I am unable to locate a workshop manual or parts diagram to give me an idea whats happening inside there.
I attemted to contact Secma in France a while back, but to no avail. Maybe their just not interested in
three wheelers anymore, dont know!
If anyone has had this problem before, or knows where I can purchase a workshop manual for
these engines, your reply would be greatly appreciated.

It's great to see a Website dedicated to such a minority vehicle with so many keen subscribers.
Hats off to Cunninghams for making this possible.

Cheers,
Rob

Hi

I'd guess that this is not an Oil Pump problem. (I'd have to see it to 100% on this)

I'l suggest that it's far more likely to be a Carb / Fuel tap problem.

Again - I don't know because I have never had a 3 wheel pod, but my advice would be to strip and clean the carb. Chack that the Float valve is totally clean.

If these have a Vacuum Fuel tap ypu may need to also replace the Diafram, usually easy enough to do but you will need to drain the tank or clamp the fuel lines.

Alex.
Hi Alex,
Thanks for your speedy reply. I have already checked the fuel system out, when I fitted larger jets to the carb.
This 50 has an expansion chamber fitted and a larger volumn air filter, so larger jets were fitted to prevent it
leaning out. But I should clarify that it's not oil/fuel mixture in the cylinder, it's straight 2 stroke oil. These
50's are oil injected not premix. It looks as though I will just have to pull the engine out and have a closer
look at the oil distributor and see if I can see any wear in anything.
Once again thanks for your reply, and if you think of anything it might be, please dont hesitate to drop me a line.

Cheers Rob.
