When I started Tiglet up today I noticed a serious petrol leak.

On removing the covers I can see that it's coming from the fuel pipe to the carb.  There is a round black object with three pipes. One from the fuel tank, one to the carb and one to the crankcase/gearbox???. The one from this object to the carb is leaking where it joins the carb and it does look like it's perished.  All three are rubber pipes and the one to the carb is secured with a strange looking clip - not a jubilee clip.  The other end of that pipe on the black object has no clip and looks like it is glued on.  Any suggestions?

What size is the pipe ?

Why does it only leak when the engine is running? Is there a pump somewhere?

If I pull / cut the carb feed pipe off the black round object will I have a deluge of petrol out of the tank?

Hi

That rectangular thing is the fuel pump. It works off the vacuum in the carnk cases.

Just replace the pipe with new - any car / bike shop will sell it.

Alex.
Many thanks Alex
All is now sorted
Hi Tim,

I thought I had a petrol leak a few weeks ago as a small stream of the smelly stuff was trickling under the car.....until I found that Joe, in removing my badly split mudguards from Dodgem, had accidentally drilled into my spare can of petrol that I keep next to the petrol tank in the boot!! Grrr!
