Insurance, HELP :(
I recently bought my funtech 50 and I adore it. But my parents are going to force me to sell it unless I can find somewhere to insure it.
I had insurance with lexham but once (after several weeks of being on the road) they looked up the vehicle they decided to uninsure me!
It seems like i've tried everywhere but because im 16 no-one will take me on.. Please help! :(

Unfortunately Insurance companies will only insure 17year old for this vehicle. No one will insure 16year olds. Surely 1 year is not that long to wait, you will have something to look forward to..... Mags

Oh Harriet, if I had £1 for every time I've heard this I could afford to start an insurance company.
I think Chloe (on here) had the same problem most recently, and she solved it by her Father taking the insurance and she was named as a driver.
Have a look through past messages, you should find her details on there.
If not - do what Mags says and hang in there. It's not long.

Looked on forum for you there are two mentioned-:
1. Swinton's £306 Third Party Only...... £389 Third Party,Fire and Theft
2. Parent took out insurance and added daughter as named driver. They used MCE Insurance and spoke with
Mark Etheridge. Email..... mark.etheridge@mceinsurance.com
It gives you two more contacts. If this works for you add it to the forum so other 16yr old know.... Mags

It isn't long till i'm 17 now and I know it will be worth the wait if things don't work out just yet. But I shall try these options first thing tomorrow and see how it goes!

got mine from adrian flux. £120 a yr 3rd party f&t. i am 42 though. mike.

Who did you get insurance with?
Is this just for you or with you as named driver?
Where do you live, I only ask to see if you can come to the "Impromtue Meet" we are having at Cranwell. Its a good meeting point to meet fellow podders like yourself.
I will be there with my Fun Buggy. Some stay in their motor homes, some are camping, I will be staying in the Lodge. Anyway its at The Beeches, Byards Leap, Cranwell 24/25 Sept...... It will be lovely to see you. Mags

I spent two months trying to find insurance for a 16 year old for the 50 cc. The results are this:
At the time, and most probably now, Mce insurance is the only insurer to insure a 16 year old. Even so, this can only be obtained by speaking directly to a sales manager. You MUST speak to Mark Etheridge, using the e-mail address already mentioned.
BiBA were unable to help and are NOT an insurer themselves.
Footman James and other insurers use different underwriters who do not insure people under 17. Mce use QBE who will insure a 16 year old.
Please contact Mce before you suggest they will not insure you.

I use Footman James Jordan, am#nd my policy is with QBE so they should be able to do it too
