Secma Qpod Club

Qpod Club - be a part of the fun!

Hi everyone.

It's MOT Time for my Pod, so i nip to the local MOT Station.
"Sory, it won't fit on our ramp !"

Interesting, so i book it in at another place over the Web.
Put in the Reg and it came up as a Funtech 350.
I have a refund in my Pocket !

Tried 3 other places, "Sory no can do" so i stopped off at VOSA in Chelmsford.
I have to take it 15 miles to AutoSafe in Maldon who /can/ do it.

I don't know about you guys but is this reasonable ?

I Know Cunninghams can MOT a Pod but i'm really struggling to find anywhere local and without other transport it's a real pain trying to get it MOT'd.

Suggestions welcome.

I know about them, still 10 + miles from me along busy A roads though.....
Hi,
I thought that you could drive a vehicle without an MOT so long as you are driving to a garage for an MOT, and providing you have insurance and a driving licence. You need a garage that can MOT class 3 vehicles I think. Ask this on the phone and if they do class 3 vehicles, they should do a qpod. I have a 3 wheeler qpod and the garage I go to can legally do MOT's for qpods but obviously the equipment is not designed for qpods. With a bit of common sense, a plank of wood and some jiggling, they tested it and all was fine. It also cost only £30.
A pod is MOT Class 4.
The problem is that Class 4 also = Cars and to do the MOT they have to pick it up.

A pod is to narrow for the ramp !
Chelmsford in essex

hi where r you ?????
Went to VOSA today, the one in Widford. They can't (won't) do it.
I have to take mine to the only MOT station in my area which can take my campervan (which is 23' long by 10' high) they were prepared to give it a go and managed to get it on their car ramp (just about) but I do have the wide wheels on mine which may make a difference. I tried other more local garages first with out success, I think the answer was the garage I used was prepared to have a go at it if I was prepared to take it to them. In theory the test can be done without a ramp or pit but the guys at vosa told me the main problem was that a lot of test stations have their lighting check equipment in a position that can only be used by their ramp or pit.
It may be woth checking MMM magazine for their list of campervan friendly garages as they seem more prepared to take on a challenge.
Alex, the only garage I can find near you in MMM is Main Rd Garage, Billericay, 01277 622997, which I think is about 10 mile from you. It may be worth giving them a call if it gets desperate.
cor - is it busy in here tonight.

Billericay is doable, but again as you say - well out of town.
thanks for looking.....

alex.
take it to cunninghams then
MOT sorted, went to Autosafe in Maldon.

I have to say it was a fun trip (not) in this wind.....
