If problem is now just top speed might not be engine. Brakes have a habit of not releasing very well! Do you have a spring fitted to master cylinder operating arm? Early cars don't it can be is worth fitting, any suitable spring will do. Worth jacking up car and spinning each wheel to check which brakes release best. If caliper bolts are tightened too much the brakes sieze on, too loose, bolts shake out! Quality! Another clue is uneven pad wear.

Regards Roger.
Also worth checking you have full throttle movement. Flip open plastic side of throttle control at engine have someone depress throttle.
i was wandering about the throttle the thing is start i 1st gear 15 miles an hour must change starts to miss 2nd gear 25 miles an hour starts to miss 3rd gear40 miles an hour starts to miss fire 4th gear 50 miles an hour 5th gear 60 miles an hour wont go any faster. if you like i could give you my mobile number.
The way you describe it, I think the miss fire is the restriction on the engine at about 5150rpm. The ECU stops one cylinder! 60mph in 5th is probably the best your going to get. Since the max power is at 5000rpm and only 15Kw (21hp) your top speed is probably in 4th, quoted top speed is 110Km/hr 68mph.
With such low power, performance is effected by simple things, check out secma.be.forum the belgium forum using google translate. In Begium they have made doors to improve performance and apparently performance is better with gull wing doors fitted.
I'll invite you as a friend, then we might be able to chat on phone if you wish.
chat on the phone would be good the strange thing is until about 5weeks ago the car was running good no problems and i have gullwing doors fitted.
cheers puk ill have a look at the weekend also its a 2004 model
