Secma Qpod Club

Qpod Club - be a part of the fun!

I have just taxed my QPod and yet again it has totally P***ed me off. How can it be that I can tax a 2.5  Diesel ltr BMW for 40 Quid a year and yet STILL have to fork out 125 quid for my Pod it's bloody scandalous!!!!!!!!!! How much damage to the environment can I possibly cause in 1,000 miles a year albeit with 340cc of sheer power - AND I nearly get my falsies falling out around here with all the bloody potholes left from the bad weather months ago GGGGGRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

AND his battery was flat so he wouldn't start and when he did eventually start he was coughing and sputtering!!!! So gave him a run out and he was ok again however won't be going out in him again until it's at least 65 degrees think I've got bloomin Pneumonia now Ah the joys of a podder..............
Totally agree with everything you say Chris, bloody ridiculous that the tax is so high!  I have been to work a few times since xmas in Scooby and it is definitely flying jacket, scarf, gloves and trapper hat job otherwise you will freeze!  Mind you, the left knee does take the full brunt of the wind when it sticks out of the side of the pod!
You need a sheepskin knee rug mate.....

Hi Chris new to all this ,

just got our 2006 sport and been on to the DVLA about the tax ( as im sure most podders have) and they have given me the runaround, i have sent Secma an EMAIL asking for the Certificate of Conformity that then has to be sent to Swansea with no guarantee of a reduction you would think with only 80.7gms/km of co2 and 338cc it would seem like a no brainer to me. dave

Hi Dave  we have been there and done that mate we also have a copy of the COC if you want one. Problem is the DVLA don't know what to do about it and they literally don't know who could make the decision to change it - Bloomin useless mate!!! We gave up in the end the issue is that there are not enough of us in the country to get it changed maybe we should all write to the Minister of Transport!! If we were in france we would blockade the Houses Of Parliament with our QPods - We'd put Jackie at the front with Podgy She'd sort em out!!!

If there is interest i will see if we can get a lobby Group on board.

I agree that the tax on a pod is stoopid, i mean really stoopidly high.

The core issue is that a quadricycle is not required to go through an Emissions test at the Type approval stage.

Tjose of us who own Pre march 1st 2001 registered quads have no chance. That's the cut off for emissions testing for everything.

In the UK they therefore get taxed as PLG under 1550 cc engine size rather than on Emissions.

Whatever we do it'll be a long haul and will require more time than i personally can give.

Alex.

he he so true we so would be, still im going to keep whipping the horse on this one just so unjust. BORN FREE AND TAXED TO DEATH eh !!!  To Alex hey send on the email lets get this lobby going dbailey68@hotmail.com if smart and zip cars can do it so can we he he.

Hi Dave

The meet is at Byards Leap in Lincolnshire details are on this site from Tim. It would be great if you could come along last year we had 2 meets here and everyone had a ball. I have been trying to find a roof and doors for mine for over a year but the few that are available are very expensive. There's a set on e.bay now at 400 quid and they need some work. Where abouts are you in the country?

hi Chris thank you,

We are in Thurrock right near Lakeside Shopping Centre and the Dartford Bridge,it will be a bit of a trot for us to get up there but if i could get the dates of the meet we will do our best to come any excuse to get out and about in the van. :-) as for the roof cant beleive how much they are (new) nearly as much new as we paid for the car OUTRAGEOUS..!!!  oops sorry will look for Tim's page.

The dates are Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd May.  Look on the forum page for 2nd annual meet posted by Tim mate. Try to get there it would be great to meet up. You're in a great place to get to a ferry for a trip to the factory in France that people have talked about for ages.
