I am a little worried about towing my QPod. I dont hang around in my camper and the though of towing the little fellow at 70mph on the motorway scares me a little. I have been looking for a purpose built trailer for a while now but havent found a suitable one so going to have to bite the bullet and do without.
Any advice on towing would be appreciated as would the whereabouts of a suitable cheap trailer
Yes I know that you should only tow at 50mph but lets be realistic

I have towed mine a few times and I am convinced that it speeds up the process of the drive shafts sliping off so I bought a trailer for mine of ebay. My trailer is a David Cooper Motorcycle Trailer and it needs some modification before I can use it (ramps, jockey wheels etc.) which I still haven't done so it hasn't been used yet.
In my opinion the qpod tows well on its own bar, its just the drive shaft problem that worries me, I have the wide chunky tyres on mine and I am not sure if that causes more strain then the road tyres would.
Hi
I have towed at 70mph and regret that forces on drive shafts and rear bearings were just too much;.
I had to replace these when 1. Wheel bearing overheated and collapsed
2, drive shaft splines and hardy spicer joints wore out (spun out all grease)
cost around £500.
I still tow but keep my speed down to about 55mph possibly 60 overtaking. Since then (18 months) I have had no problems.
Well you are entitled to your opinion Donald i have been towing for equally as long as you and it all depends on the limitations of your trailer and the type of road you are on. My question was to determine the wear and tear on the qpod and if anyone knew the whereabouts of a trailer. I didnt really need the health and safety lesson
Hi Martin, understand your concerns with regards to towing, I bought a box trailer for my q-pod which I tow benind my motorhome, I am in the process of selling both pod and trailer, seperately. Please e-mail me if inerested in any further details: annisw@grimsby.ac.uk

Hi Colin
Im not that mechanically minded but I believe the problem is that the Qpod is designed to do around 50mph flat out. If it is towed at a faster speed it will eventually cause problems to the bearings and belt as they are not designed for it. Hopefully someone will explain it better than me?
Its actually 60 on a dual carriageway Jayne but that was not my original question!
dont leave it in gear when towing as it will brake the belt, as i found out to my cost, i,v towed mine hundreds of miles, and speeds of up to 70, dont even know its there but for the rear camara, good luk, Dave
