My hand book says 20psi all round for the pod sport

WELL put 20psi all round as per the handbook and found that Rod The Pod likes to go around corners sideways when the back end slides great fun but Mr Plod wouldn't be too happy about it me thinks. Still if that's what Secma say it must be right so I'll leave it at that then.

Chris, Do you have the standard Dominator tyres - r u sure it's not more to do with the knobbly tyres on tarmac than the pressures.

Hi Richard yeah I have the standard Dominators on there. I think you're probably right it just seems that the tyres seem very soft with 20psi in them although as you say the Knobblies are not the best on tarmac. Anyway if that's what they recommend then that's what I'll leave them at.

Thought I might as well throw my pennyworth into the pot and confuse everyone!

The guy I bought my 2 Qpod Sport 340's from was an aerospace engineer, very clued up on Qpods (he had six of them!!)
One of my pods has Kenda Speedracer wide road tyres on, and the other has the standard Sport Dominator Knobblies. A point he made clear to me was not to put any more than 10 - 12psi in the fronts and 12 - 16psi in the rears maximum, or the ride would be uncomfortably hard and I would lose grip, especially in the wet. As he commuted 20 miles daily in his pod in all weathers I took the advice from his experience. I suppose the theory is the lower the pressure, the more rubber sits on the ground, the better the grip.
At 10 - 12psi in the fronts, I found the steering really heavy. (Well, I am a big lad!) I took it up gradually to 20psi but found the ride did get hard and the front grip got very skittish on corners as the tyre was harder and laying less rubber on the tarmac. Eventually settled on 15psi, steering still a bit heavy but the ride's better and more grippy.
I really think it's a question of finding your own "happy place" with the pressures, never mind what other people say or advise.

Road Tyres like Speedracers are better on tarmac, not so good off road. Dominators are better off road, not so good on tarmac. I wouldn't have thought slight changes in pressure to Dominators would make much difference as contact is only on the end of each knobbly bit. More pressure = less knobbly bits on road, less pressure = more knobbly bits on road.

And yes, Dominators ARE slippery. Doing an instant about turn on a roundabout and finding yourself facing a Volvo head on isn't funny, believe me!

I put 15psi front and 20 rear on road ,Ive done 16000 miles on the same tyres on and off road and towing the pod down the motorway on its rear wheels ,they are the standard factory fit ,SKIDWELL TYRES , with the nobbles on,they seem to last longer than the engines,
