Secma Qpod Club

Qpod Club - be a part of the fun!

My Qpod is still with the Barrus dealer 2 weeks after a drive shaft broke for the second time in 5 months. They are apparently argueing with Barrus about the warranty.
Barrus are apparently saying that their fund for payouts on warranties for vehicles imported by the Qpod company they took over last year has run out, and there is no more money to pay out on claims!
Has anybody else had the same problem, and if so what was the outcome?

Is your contract not with the dealer who sold it you not the maker?
I think I'd be having a chat with my local Trading Standards office and a solicitor. Most will do an initial consultation for a very low fee and you know then whether you've got a case.
I'd be seriously unimpressed personally.
Best of Luck,
Jaquelyn
Hi.
You have a contract that states that you have a Parts and Lablour warranty.

You almost certainly have a contract with either the Dealer you bought it from or Barrus.
If whoever you bought it from is unable to honour that contract I'd contact whoever the contract is with, in writing and say "Sort it Out !" or I will, as Jaquelyn said, contact Trading Standards.

Trading standards will charge you a small fee for their work, which you should be able to reclaim from whover the contract is with.
The dealer I bought the Qpod from went bust and closed suddenly 9 months after I bought it, and according to the Barrus agent who is dealing with the repair, Barrus told him they would try to contact the company who imported it to see if they would pay. I will have to wait and see what happens.
Yesterday I had a phone call from Nigel Scarr (a very nice man from Secma France) who had just had my claim land on his desk. He was fact finding and was very reassuring that they would get my problems sorted out and my qpod back on the road as soon as possible, as he was keen to restore Secma's reputation. So some good news at last!

I have to say that although some people have had a very bad time with Mr Scarr, I too have spoken to him in the past and found him to be knowledgable and courteous.

Sounds like a fair resolution (apart from 3 weeks off the road) :(

I finally got my Qpod back on Saturday after being away at the authorised Barras dealer 40 miles away for 5 weeks. It seems that when they fitted the previous drive shaft and hub a few months ago they didn't have something lined up properly, which caused it to fail again.
I towed it home but was not pleased to find that the hub on the repaired side was warm to the touch, whereas the hub on the other side stayed cold. does this mean that it is still not right?
The Barras agent has now said he never wants to see another Qpod on his premises again as he has had so much trouble with Barras/Secma over my problem!
