Funtech 50 won't run

Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhh I have had my Funtech 50 for nearly 2 years and it has only been running for a few months in all that time! The latest problem happened last June when the Piston Rings disintegrated whilst my daughter was driving it. . .  I was just changing jobs and about to move house so it got left, and left, and left . . . Having finally replaced the piston, rings, cylinder barrel and head I realised that a 70cc conversion had previously been fitted - this has now been replaced with a…See More

"Hi, I would check here http://www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk/cp-FORMULA_50_AIR_COOLED-702.aspx You can find all sorts, including the 70cc kit or the standard 50cc piston I think. I would NOT recommend the 70cc kit, since I changed mine upto it, it…"

"ok - had a look around the forum. The Engine is a Formula 50 air cooled italijet. You have a few options. If the Bore is undamaged a Piston kit will get you going. Check the exhaust port area - that is critical on a 2 stroke. If there is a wear…"

Replacing the piston on a Funtech 50

Hi,2 weeks before the rally and my daughter's Funtech 50 died.  I have only just found the problem.  The piston rings have disintegrated, wrecking the piston and embedding themselves in the piston crown and cylinder head. Can anyone advise on the best place to get a replacement piston kit?Having dropped the engine/rear wheel assembly to make access to the cylinder easier I decided to have a look at the clutch and belt . . . The belt seems very loose but I can't see how it is adjusted. Also, I…See More

The treasure hunt drive may seem a long drive for a Qpod but treasure hunts are not fast and manoeuvrable Qpods might be ideal. I am likely to have a spare seat if someone would like to join me in my 500.

Hi All, great to fi9nd others with this model... I'm just waiteng for the second of my four kids to turn 16 so he can use the little baby.... so I'm whizzing it around for the summer. Great to nip to my office ... fighting with my wife tho'... she works for a local Harley dealership and loves to drive herself in on a sunny day in the pod.

I had the same starting problem Jules and fixed it in exactly the same way last year... foxed me for a week!!
