That's a common error. All of us do it all the time. Surprisingly it does not seem to do any harm. The other error is driving off with the choke out. The clue is loss of power and a strong smell of petrol.

Hi Rex,   You should be OK, I have done that many times and when you get to the other end and go to put the handbrake on you feel such a fool!!!
